"Preparing
for eHealth - collaborative efforts in nursing"
Nursing Informatics conference held in conjunction with MiE'2008,
May 25th 2008 at Göteborg University
Associated with the annual conference MiE (Medical
Informatics Europe), the IMIA-NI management working group in collaboration with
FDH and EFMI-NI organized this meeting "preparing for eHealth - collaborative
efforts in nursing", to elaborate important issues for nursing specifically
related to eHealth. We foresee much progress in this area in the years to come,
calling for our contributions to explore available and emerging opportunities
to shape the future of patient care.
In this meeting, we focused on possibilities following new and improved infrastructure
allowing for improved access and interoperability of services. In the break
out we focused on 1) examples of ongoing research and development efforts related
to the "Consumer and eHealth", "Informatics Competencies",
and "Implementation of eHealth components" and 2) in-depth elaboration
of issues related to "standards and terminologies". The speakers have
generously made their presentations available to the community, and you can
either download them or contact the speaker for more information.
In addition, as chair of the organizing committee I am grateful to my fellow
committee members, Margareta Ehnfors, Patrick Weber, Carole Cassert and Rosemary
Kennedy for their very valuable contributions. We are also grateful to the sponsors
and the participants in the meeting.
We look forward to seeing you again for Ni'2009 in Helsinki, Finland!
on behalf of the organizing committee
