To support nurses and nursing organizations in the European countries with information and contacts and the field of informatics
To offer nurses opportunities to build contact networks within the informatics field. This could be accomplished by arranging sessions, workshops and tutorials in connection with the Medical Informatics European (MIE) conferences or by arranging separate meetings.
To support the education of nurses with respect to informatics and computing.
To support research and developmental work in the field and promote publishing of achieved results.
Recent activities
Because of the success of the first version of Nursing and Informatics for 21st Century published together with Ch. Weaver, C. Delaney, P. Weber and R. Carr, we are now on the process to prepare the second version of this book with up-to-date information and new countries case studies. This book will be ready for February 2010.

Before the MIE conference in Göteborg we had a good preconference nursing workshop on May 25th. It was prepared together with by NSF (Norwegian Nurses' Organization) NSFID (Norwegian Nurses' Organization's Special Interest group on Nursing Informatics), Örebro University and IMIA NI working group. The speakers and the experts gave a good overview under the title Preparing for eHealth - collaborative efforts in nursing.

In November 3rd during the WoHIT 2008 conference we had a full day conference under the title What Can Technology and Informatics Do for You? This conference took place at Herlev Hospital where we had a good overview of their way to introduce new technologies into the wards.

This conference followed by a support to the first Croatian Nursing informatics conference in Zagreb November 7th to 11th 2008

Several county's members of our WG are directly involved into developments corresponding to our aims please look at country reports on the Website www.nicecomputing.ch/nieurope

Annual report from Swiss Nursing Informatics Group
Patrick Weber Swiss representative at IMIA/NI-SIG and EFMI NursIE

Swiss Nursing Informatics Group is active. The present summary concerns 2008. President or secretary if needed could give more information. The website is accessible at www.swissnurse.ch (in French or German, English version not yet available). As president of the Working Group 5 Nursing Informatics Europe of EFMI (European Federation for Medical Informatics) you may find also information about Nursing Informatics of EFMI at http://www.nicecomputing.ch/nieurope.

Swiss German group is still working on the German ICNP http://icnp.net. Now the French speaking part is also hard working on the French translation together with Canada, Belgium and France.

Three leading hospitals or group of hospitals decide for an integrated patient record, this is University Hospital of Lausanne and regional hospitals in Canton Vaud, University Hospital of Berne and Canton Tessin (Italian speaking part). It is a very good way to have a better visibility on nursing and informatics.

Nursing were involved in the work in progress with the setup of the Swiss DRG. Switzerland will have made the APDRG change to SwissDRG (based on German DRG) for 2012. Report of this work in German could be found at http://www.lep.ch/index.php/fr/news-topmenu-19/61-newsflash

Our Nursing Informatics group joint the board of Swiss Society for Medical Informatics last year. This will enforce the nursing work on this field.

We had Swiss nurses' representatives at most of the important international conference.

A new group on nursing research was set up and was running at the end of 2008. We are looking forward that informatics and nursing will be also a hot topic. http://www.pflegeforschung-vfp.ch/index.php

A lot is coming this year please wait for the next annual report.
